Penguin Island Wildlife, Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, Western Australia

It is privilege to visit this beautiful part of the coast & its wildlife blessed with white sandy beaches and surrounded by crystal clear waters. Penguin Island is just 45 minutes south of Perth and lies a five minute ferry ride away in the heart of the ruggedly spectacular Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. The wildlife is the star attraction. Best to join a cruise to see wild dolphins and rare Australian sea lions before getting up close with the world’s smallest penguins! It is likely that Penguin Island was first used by Aboriginal people who are believed to have been in the area for as long as 12,000 years.

Penguin Island Daily Activities

However, there is more to see on Penguin Island than the penguin colony, and visitors can expect to see large numbers of both pelicans and cormorants around the island.

There is also a diverse range of marine animals like dolphins and Australian sea lions.

Sea birds can be seen at any location on the island, accessible via timber walkways, while marine animals are best spotted on one of the many cruises available to visitors.
